ventral pontine gray
Acronym:
The term ventral pontine gray refers to a composite substructure of the pons that includes the pontine nuclei of the basal pons and the reticulotegmental nucleus of the pontine tegmentum. Its components are found in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ), the macaque ( Martin-2000 ), the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and the mouse ( Hof-2000 ). Functionally it belongs to the postcerebellar and precerebellar nuclei of the behavior control column ( Swanson-2004 ).
