The term area 38 of Brodmann (human) refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined temporal region of cerebral cortex in the human. It is located primarily in the most rostral portions of the superior temporal gyrus and the middle temporal gyrus. Cytoarchitecturally it is bounded caudally by the area 20 of Brodmann (human), the area 21 of Brodmann (human), the area 22 of Brodmann (human) and the area 36 of Brodmann (human) ( Brodmann-1909 ).
