extended pallidum

The term extended pallidum refers to a composite structure of the extended cerebral nuclei defined on the basis of embryonic derivation from the medial ventricular ridge. It includes the globus pallidus, substantia innominata, basal nucleus, medial septal complex, triangular septal nucleus, nucleus of stria terminalis, nucleus of the anterior commissure and nucleus of stria medullaris ( Swanson-2004 ).
