ventral group of the dorsal thalamus

The term ventral group of the dorsal thalamus refers to a set of substructures of the sensorimotor thalamus grouped on the basis of connectivity and function ( Swanson-2004 ). It includes parts of the classical ventral nuclear group of the thalamus together with the peripeduncular nucleus, and the subparafascicular nucleus.
     In the Functional CNS Model - Rat it has five components: the ventral anterolateral nucleus of the thalamus, the ventral medial nucleus of the thalamus, the ventral posterior complex of the thalamus, the subparafascicular nucleus. and the peripeduncular nucleus.
