area V3CD
Acronym:
V3CD
The term area V3CD refers to a cortical structure located on the lateral surface of the cerebral hemisphere at the junction of the occipital lobe and temporal lobe, between early visual cortex and the MT+ complex of the human. Defined by multiple criteria, it is a part of MT+ neighbors. Compared to adjacent areas, it is fMRI activated in a TOOL task, a RELATIONAL-MATCH contrast, WORKING MEMORY, RELATIONAL, EMOTION, and PLACE tasks. It is less activated in a BODY task and is variably activated or deactivated, depending on the comparison area, in a FACES-SHAPES contrast. Other authors have referred to the same topological area as V3A,V3B, or hOC4la ( Glasser-2016 ).
