Acronym: MTB
The term metabrain (MTB) refers to a substructure of the brain (BRN) as defined and segmented by dissection. It includes the pons (PON) and the cerebellum (CBL).The other components are the forebrain (FBR), midbrain (MBR) and hindbrain (HBR).
      The metabrain is derived for the most part, but not entirely, from the embryonic Metencephalon ( Carpenter-1983; Schiebler-1999 ). Updated 4 Nov 2025.
