The term accessory olfactory tract refers to a fiber bundle adjacent to the supraoptic decussations in the mouse ( Paxinos-2001 ) and rat ( Swanson-2004 ). It conducts signals from the accessory olfactory bulb (OLBa) to the olfactory cortex [ endopiriform nucleus (EPN) in the rodent ]. It does not exist in the human or the macaque ( Olmos-2004 ) where axons from the OLBa presumably run in the olfactory tract (oltr). Updated 27 Jul 2024.
