cerebral gyri

The term cerebral gyri (singular: gyrus) refers to the surface convolutions of the cerebral cortex. There are about 30 named gyri in both the human and macaque, but their patterning and names differ somewhat. In NeuroNames the names of gyri that are found only in the human are followed by (H); those found only in the macaque are followed by (M) ( Carpenter-1983 ).
