The term transverse occipital sulcus refers to a variable multibranched groove on the dorsolateral aspect of the occipital lobe of the human ( Duvernoy-1992 ). In some brains it is continuous with the intraparietal sulcus rostrally ( Ono-1990 ). It is not found in the macaque nor in the smooth cerebral cortex of the rat or mouse ( NeuroNames ).
