deep tegmental gray

The term deep tegmental gray refers to a composite substructure of midbrain tegmentum that includes the magnocellular part of the red nucleus, the dorsal nucleus of the lateral lemniscus, the peripeduncular nucleus and certain nuclei of the midbrain reticular formation including the cuneiform nucleus, the subcuneiform nucleus, the pedunculopontine tegmental nucleus and the linear nucleus of the raphe. It also includes the nucleus intracuneiformis and the parabrachial pigmented nucleus ( Crosby-1962 ).
