ambient gyrus (ABG)

The term ambient gyrus (ABG) refers to a mound on the anterior parahippocampal gyrus (PHGa) in the human. It is a topological structure that is roughly coincident with dorsomedial entorhinal cortex (ENTdm) ( Insausti-2012 ). Some authors regard it as part of the the uncus UNC ( Ture-1999 ), others as a synonym for limen insula ( Anthoney-1994 ). Updated 18 Jul 2026.
