area 42 of Brodmann (42)

The term area 42 of Brodmann refers to a subdivision of the cytoarchitecturally defined temporal region of cerebral cortex. It is located in the bank of the lateral fissure on the dorsal surface of the temporal lobe. Cytoarchitecturally it is bounded medially by the area 41 of Brodmann (human) and laterally by the area 22 of Brodmann (human) ( Brodmann-1909 ).
