comb system

The term comb system refers to a set of fascicles of nerve fibers that penetrate the posterior limb of the internal capsule and cerebral crus approximately at the junction of those structures. They course horizontally to connect the globus pallidus with the substantia nigra and other mesencephalic and diencephalic structures ( Riley-1943; Mai-1997 ).
