viscerosensory nuclei

The term viscerosensory nuclei refers to cell groups in the hindbrain defined on the basis of function and connectivity as receiving neural input from the internal organs ( Swanson-2004 ). They include the parabrachial nuclei of the pontine tegmentum and the solitary nucleus (Swanson) of the medulla.
