zona incerta (functional)

The term zona incerta (functional) refers to a set of cellular substructures of the subthalamus grouped on the basis of connectivity and function in the rat. It includes the zona incerta, the nucleus of field H of Forel and the portions of subthalamus and thalamus overlapped by cells of the dopaminergic A13 cell group. Functionally it belongs to the reticular formation (functional) of the brainstem motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
