The term subcommissural zone of stria terminalis refers to a group of cells identified on the basis of cytoarchitecture in an early segmentation of anterior nuclei of stria terminalis in the rat. Subsequent connectional data led investigators to combine it into the anterolateral area of stria terminalis ( Swanson-2004 ).
