insular pole

The term insular pole refers to a superficial landmark identified by dissection in the human insula. It represents the surfaces of the accessory insular gyrus and the transverse insular gyrus located at the most anteroinferior aspect of the anterior insula where it meets the frontal lobe ( Ture-1999 ). It is not found in the macaque or the rodent ( NeuroNames ).
