lateral zone of the ventral lateral hypothalamus

The term lateral zone of the ventral lateral hypothalamus refers to one of two zones of the ventral region of the lateral hypothalamus in the lateral hypothalamic area of the rat. It differs from the other, the medial zone of the ventral lateral hypothalamus, in that its cells are more densely distributed. Functionally both belong to the motor lateral hypothalamus of the brainstem motor system ( Swanson-2004 )
