deep part of the parapyramidal nucleus

The term deep part of the parapyramidal nucleus refers to one of two components of the parapyramidal nucleus in the ventral medullary reticular formation of the rat. It is closely adjacent to the inner surface of the pyramidal tract. The other component is the superficial part of the parapyramidal nucleus. Functionally the parapyramidal nucleus belongs to the reticular formation (functional) of the the brainstem motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
