callosal sulcus (cas)

The term callosal sulcus refers to the cleft that separates the corpus callosum from the cingulate gyrus; it opens into the longitudinal fissure on the medial surface of the cerebral hemisphere. Defined on the basis of dissection, it is found in the human ( Carpenter-1983 ) and the macaque ( Martin-2000 ). No comparable feature is shown in brain atlases of the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and mouse ( Franklin-2008 ).
