The term frontal association area refers to an area of cerebral cortex defined on the basis of Nissl stain; it is located on the dorsal and lateral surfaces at the frontal pole of the rat ( Paxinos-2009b ) and the mouse ( Hof-2000; Franklin-2008 ).
