parasubthalamic nucleus

The term parasubthalamic nucleus refers to a group of cells ventromedial to the subthalamic nucleus in the macaque ( Paxinos-2009a ), the rat ( Swanson-2004 ), and the mouse ( Paxinos-2001, Hof-2000 ). Functionally it belongs to the lateral motor zone of the hypothalamus ( Swanson-2004 ).
