anterior cingulate area
The term anterior cingulate area refers to a cortical area defined by cytoarchitecture in the mouse and rat. It is located on the medial surface of the cerebral hemisphere. It consists of two subareas, dorsal part of the anterior cingulate area and ventral part of the anterior cingulate area ( Swanson-1998 ).The equivalent in primates is considered to be the anterior cingulate cortex.
