ventral lateral nucleus (Ilinsky)

The term ventral lateral nucleus (Ilinsky) refers to a composite substructure of the ventral nuclear group of the thalamus based on connectivity and motor function. It includes area X, the posterior ventral lateral nucleus, the pars postrema of the ventral lateral nucleus, and the oral part of the ventral posterolateral nucleus ( Macchi-1997 ).
