This is the original publication of the segmentation of human cerebral cortex by Constantin von Economo, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Vienna. Based on topological and histological criteria, his segmentation and nomenclature, particularly of the parietal and temporal lobes, has become most widely used by subsequent neuroscientists.
