The term sacral segments (SPCsc) refers to the 25th to 29th segments at the ventral end of the spinal cord (SPC). Located between the lumbar segments (SPClb) and the coccygeal segment (SPCcg) they are labeled S1 to S5 in the human. These segments give rise to the corresponding sacral nerves ( Carpenter-1983 ). Defined by histology they are found in all vertebrates ( Swanson-2015 ). Final 24 Dec 2024.
