interstitial nucleus of the auditory nerve (INA)

The term interstitial nucleus of the auditory nerve refers to clusters of cells in the body of the vestibulocochlear nerve near its junction with the anteroventral cochlear nucleus in the medulla. It is part of the subcortical auditory system in the rat ( Swanson-2004 ).
