olfactory limb of the anterior commissure (aca)

The term olfactory limb of the anterior commissure refers to one of two parts of the anterior commissure identified on the basis of topology. The other is the temporal limb of the anterior commissure. In the human ( Carpenter-1983 ) and the macaque ( Carmichael-1996 ) it is anterior to, and smaller than the temporal limb. In the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and mouse ( Hof-2000 ) it is anteroventral to, and considerably larger than the temporal limb.
