polymodal association cortex

The term polymodal association cortex refers to a composite structure in the cerebral cortex identified by connectivity and function. In the rat it includes the anterior cingulate area, prelimbic area, orbital areas (rodent), agranular insula, retrosplenial area, posterior parietal association areas, temporal association areas, ectorhinal area, perirhinal cortex, and the hippocampal complex ( Swanson-2004 ).
