anterior periventricular nucleus

The term anterior periventricular nucleus refers to the portion of the periventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus caudal to the preoptic periventricular nucleus and rostral to the intermediate periventricular nucleus in the rat ( Swanson-2004 ) and the mouse ( Dong-2004 ). Functionally it belongs to the parvicellular neuroendocrine cell groups of the brainstem motor system ( Swanson-2004 ).
